If you’re asking yourself the question “are nuts ketogenic?” you should know that walnuts are pretty low in carbohydrate. They contain only 14 grams of carbs per 100 grams. But even that is not the best thing – half of those carbs are made of dietary fiber. 


Another reason why are nuts ok for ketosis is that they’re high in fat. Walnuts are particularly fat-rich, containing about 65 grams per a 100-gram serving. Furthermore, they are rich in polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats, which are friendly to your heart and coronary system.

Similarly to walnuts, almonds are also full of fat. In fact, almost 50% of each almond nut is made of fat. The best thing is that almonds have the least amount of the unhealthy saturated fat of all nuts that are commonly used in the human diet.


When it comes to their carb amount, almonds contain about 22 grams of them per a 100-gram serving. Surely, it’s not a low amount, but you can solve the problem by simply eating them in smaller portions. 


On top of everything, almonds are also an amazing source of protein. In fact, there is about 21 grams of protein in each 100-gram serving of almonds.   

3. Brazil Nuts

What makes brazil nuts amazing as a keto food is that they’re super-rich in fat, while having a fairly low amount of carbohydrates. The total amount of carbohydrate is 12g, three-quarters of which are dietary fiber. The amount of fat is 66 percent, while the protein percentage of Brazil nuts is 14. 


The only downside is that they’re full of selenium, a nutrient that can be dangerous if consumed too much. This is why you shouldn’t eat it too much. 

4. Pecans

Pecans seem like the ultimate ketogenic nuts for the fact that they contain only 9 grams of carbohydrate per 100 grams. They’re also extremely rich in fat, with 72% of each nut consisting of fat. The best thing is that there are only 6 grams of saturated fat in pecans. 

5. Peanuts

If you’re not sure are nuts allowed on a ketogenic diet or not, maybe you should turn your focus to legumes. Despite their name, peanuts are not nuts technically but legumes. 

There is no doubt that they’re one of the best snack choices for those on the keto diet. Why?


Because they are very rich in fat (49 grams), not to mention that there aren’t many other food sources that contain such a high percentage of protein (26 grams). Finally, peanuts contain a fairly low amount of carbs (16 grams), especially when compared to other types of nuts.
