Grilled and marinated flank steak

Preparation time: 10 minutes + 2-20 hours for marinating

Cooking time: 10 minutes

Ingredients For Six portions 


  • 1kg flank steak
  • 2 crushed cloves of garlic
  • 2 tablespoons of mustard
  • 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons of squeezed lemon
  • 1 tablespoon of thyme 
  • 1 tablespoon of ground pepper
  • 60mL of extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt 


Instructions


Before everything, you want to make sure that you cut off any fat from the steak. After this step, pierce the steak on both sides, this will open the pores of the meat. Take the crushed garlic you prepared earlier and rub it on both sides of the steak. For this keto steak marinade, you will need a big zip-lock bag, so make sure you have one. Put the steak in a bag.


Put the soy sauce, mustard, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, pepper, and the thyme in a small bowl and whisk it. After you get the desired texture, add the olive oil. The next step is pouring the marinade over the steak into the zip-lock bag. Make sure that you sealed the bag properly and try to press out all of the air from the bag. Try to massage the marinade into the steak with your fingers. Put the bag in the fridge and let it marinate for at least 2 hours. 


Remove the steak from your fridge at least an hour before you are ready to cook it. Make sure that your grill is set to high temperature. When you remove the steak from the marinade, dry it up with some paper towels. Season the steak properly with some black pepper and salt.


Once your grill is hot and ready to be used, place the seasoned side of the steak down. Three minutes will be enough to make it rare. 


When you get the desired color, season the top side and turn the steak in order to grill the second side. Again, three minutes will be enough for a rare steak. You can always use a thermometer if you want to be more precise with the internal temperature of the steak. 51 degrees Celsius will give you a rare steak, while 54 will make the steak medium rare. 


Once the steak is grilled, remove it from the grill and make sure you let it rest for at least five minutes. Make sure you don’t throw away any of that tasty marinade and pour it over the stake.
